And it's (partly) why we exist.
I'm sure we've all seen our fair share of stuff that makes you think "wow" - can't believe you just tried to pull that - shame you picked a shopper this time!
My best one is probably when a member of staff actually swore at a customer who he thought had got in his way. I just happened to be coming down the aisle with my camera so caught it all by sheer chance.
Then there are car salesmen who try to get the PCP quote down by deliberately putting a lower mileage than you stated into the system. Yep - don't think I didn't spot that!
Outside of Gyp assignments where you virtually have to shout your presence from a rooftop, you rarely know who we are. We just come and go, remember everything and are quickly forgettable. So don't swear at the customers!
What's your best 'one'?
H'mm too many to list really.
probably the most blatant was one where I was told the car finance would be £x for 3 years but the small print said 5 years, and then presumptively included "dealer options" added another £2.5k to the top line. The smile was wiped off his face when I revealed my true purpose after seeing the business manager.
At the other end of the spectrum was the Sales Executive who failed to check the exact location of his swivel chair when sitting down and ended-up in a heap on the floor, then casually saying, " It's a good job it's not on CCTV"!
Laugh - I nearly cried!0 -
" It's a good job it's not on CCTV"!
Brilliant!
I'd have been tempted to send him the clip! It's a shame we can't.0 -
My favourite was in a phone shop, I heard the whispered words "Mystery shopper's in", and quietly started checking back with myself how I got sussed. Then I realised another customer (assume they weren't a shopper) who was sitting behind me was getting a full floor show while I got left sat by myself for about 10 minutes. It was quiet fun watching every member of staff find an excuse to introduce themslves to the other customer and try to impress them.
I may have led the member of staff who eventually served me on a bit, by asking about mystery shoppers after the other customer had left in a midst of handshakes and forlorn goodbyes. It was great to know what they really think of us though.Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?

They did seem to clear out the Nov jobs quite quickly. Last week I was out of my area doing something else so (as usual) I looked to see if I could pick up a meal - no, all gone, only December on the board.
Mind, they've been calling and texting loads today about a couple of jobs that are miles away. Probably because I did them 6 months ago because I happened to be passing. Often means they're desperate when they call you on that basis. So presumably there are still some Nov jobs left.0 -
The RA ones make me laugh. I wouldn't get out of bed for the amount they are paying and reimbursing. Who would bother. By the time you have printed out the brief and gone through all that hassle etc0

They went from regular fee to 4x really quickly this month.
I don't think there was a full round either but that could just be me.0
