Are there any known cases of suing LL for 3 x the amount of an unprotected deposit?

6 years from the date your tenancy ends I think. In Scotland it's only 6 months.0 -
Well, just been informed we will not be getting a single penny of our deposit back.
Not sure if we take them to court, or just leave it. I hate to see them getting away with the way we have been treated, but I don't know how much fight I have in me.0 -
Take them to court. It's a lot of money.
You will potentially be doing other future tenants a favour.
You will at least then know you have done all you can and get some satisfaction if you win.

It's understandable that you're running out of steam. Without an address in the UK it will be difficult to serve notice to take your LL to court.

I will give shelter a call tomorrow, discussing with my husband we will leave it a month and then make our move.
would you expect to get a check out report? I don't think we will get one.
we will go down the court route though, I can get a uk address, I'm confident about that0
