Seems it really is invite only. If you are happy to sell internationally then I do not see it being a problem. I guess it depends how well the fact the seller is in another country and postage may take longer is communicated.

  • I haven't been invited, but if I were to sell a lot to Europe the extortionate postage would put me into VAT territory due to a much bigger turnover with very little extra profit. We always want to stay the shy side of VAT because there are other constraints on our business.

  • With the European Sales Booster you can actually decide on how much you offer internationally so you can control your sales (or pull out altogether).

The point of the program is that you can sell internationally without having to manage multiple inventories or even translating your listings. Everything is taken from your UK listings and translated and is linked to your UK inventory (I.E you can't oversell). Any negative feedback received is limited to the country in which it was received and therefore doesn't affect your UK performance.

If you use it at the same time with the Global Shipping Platform then international shipments are cheaper too.

There aren't many reasons NOT to participate unless you really don't want to increase your workload.

It is by invite only - only selected merchants are being offered access.
  • My advice, DON'T DO IT! The translation is shockingly bad. I had them miss describe every single item they listed for me and they did nothing to fix it. They also reduced my titles to one or two words, so little chance of selling anything there. They tried saying I would be covered for defects if it due to their translation but actually that is incorrect and Ebay make defects stand. I pulled out very quickly.
I have European postage on my listings and I get sales from Europe, without any help. From what I've heard from other sellers, it doesn't increase sales, and from their experience and mine, it only creates more unpaid work.

I opted in a couple of days ago and regret it but might as well see what happens now.
Hopefully I can pull out easily if it doesn't work out.
  • I'm not sure why you would regret opting in. Apart from the fact that you can opt out again it's free and potentially increases your sales.

I probably spend too much time on the boards and heard nothing good on there, maybe people who are happy don't bother coming on to comment!

People often post their bad experiences, but neglect to mention when things go well.
