Tesco new lower prices - really?

Options
So you may have seen posters and advertising promoting the "new lower prices" at Tesco. One of the items included in the promotional bumph is Cadbury Fingers. The price was lowered to 85p. Bargain!

Pictures on my e-mails from Tesco and posters in store with boxes of Cadbury Fingers. Thing is, in my Tesco Express they are now £1.37. Online, however, they are now 80p. What gives?

Putting the price up even though there are signs with the product on it saying "brands now cheaper"?

Simple clear lower prices my a*se

I find prices are usually more at Tesco Express then their main stores. Must have something to do with them mostly being corner shop locations.

Tesco have told me they have their own pricing and promotions policies. Apparently.

80p in two Expresses I have been in recently. Just bought a packet in one.

Sometimes the Expresses are dearer than main stores.

Wonder why mine is at £1.30 odd? The manager there is very condescending. A few weeks back I queried the price as it scanned higher than the SEL. I mentioned the double the difference policy only to be told "it doesn't operate within Express stores". When I challenged him he gave it to me out of "goodwill".

    Idiot.

No doubt some buffoon will be here shortly extolling the virtues of Aldi/Lidl's "cadberry's fungers" and how you can get 16.7million of them for 22p and they're "just like" the real thing, or "even better"...

Oh, and OP - Tesco do state that their small store formats all have their own pricing. Some do, at times, have better deals than their larger stores, and some deals are geographical depending on nearby competitors based on the predominating local socioeconomic demographic.
  • Mmmmmm, delicious and only 23p for 3 dozen.....

It seems Tesco Express is run separate to Tesco main stores. Its like M & S Simply food is different to the food areas in main M & S stores and like all stores location plays a big part in pricing

Of late, Mr T has definitely dropped many prices to long ago levels of Captain Sensible. The lunatic grab'n'greed which affected even basic items drove me often elsewhere years back - and I[Clubcard+ customer=double pts] am v. pleased that things have worked out this way ever since.

So, regular Mr T buys continue: basic oranges[ back to 76p per net, had climbed to £1.29] 500gm pots unsweetened yogurt [back to 45p, had climbed to £1.04], petrol, Saturday Grauniad, free yeast:-), other fruit/veg. depending on rtc's, promo's, occasional, if rare, do-not-miss deals on quality wine/fizz[one last week on a top-notch St Chinian].

Then, into matching Waitrose for free cappuccino, civilised sit down with other journaux, many excellent rtc's[encouraged by friendly chat and engagement always:-)], good selection of fighting discounts+quality each week/fortnight, enhanced by having a free My Waitrose card, butter being an example last week.

The best thing of all chez w8rs, is that promo's and offers kick in on reduced items too. It's a regular joy to be paid for taking things away - last Saturday, organic smoked salmon, specialty breads[all down to 5p and 9p, but with multi-buy offer] and similar.

The Waitrose Weekend free paper[out Fridays]is useful for spotting deals and the monthly mag comes free with a MW card.

I notice an uplift in Mr T fruit quality too, overdue, and in staff mood, many of whom I've 'known' over 12 years now. Everything seemed to slide, under Clarke.
