I'd pop it back to them and put it on the ramp and check the wheels aren't buckled. To stop the next chain of disappointment.
You save up and change the bearing, still an issue with wheel wobble so you balance the wheels, it's still there and you're told. We've balanced them as best we can but your wheels are damaged.
Have you driven many rear wheel drive cars before?
No I don't want a free fix but I don't want to be paying for more diagnostics (at £55 a time).
I have already paid for the wheels to be balanced as part of the first bill, but I'd forgot to give them the locking nut so it's getting the wheels balanced on Saturday. As I said, they've already confirmed that the wheels aren't buckled.
No, not driven a rear wheel car before.0 -
We had this issue with the traction light flickering on and off when going round roundabouts or long, sweeping slip roads etc..
This was on a 2002 Audi A6 2.4 and it turned out to be a near side tyre was low on pressure.
Another thing I've come accross is the tyres have water in them from the compressor not being drained often enough.0 -

Thanks, I'll nip to asda tonight and check the tyre pressure.0 -
I hope you have another mechanic lined up because you will be needing one soon.0

What tyres are you running?
I've heard that mismatched and/or cheap tyres can and often will cause ASC problems.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Why didn't you continue the thread, "Wheel Balancing...fair price?" or are you so wedded to this bunch of amateurs that you are desperate to keep on !!!!ing your money into the same hole?0

According to trading standards
"If a fault is not correctly diagnosed or is not properly repaired, you are entitled to ask the garage to carry out further repairs at no cost to you."
The issue I have is that they have obviously (as you correctly said) just looked at the ECU found an error code and gone replacing a part that probably didn't need replacing. Surely they should be held accountable for that?
I had a fault with my Golf with the indicator clicking after being cancelled.
2 possible solutions to the fault, one easy, one complex and more expensive to do.
I tried the easy one which didn't fix it so needed to do both. Could well be the same with this.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
Exactly. There's nothing to say the sensor didn't need replaced anyway (they said they checked the signals).
They found a faulty part and replaced it, it wasn't the fault giving you problems, so you just need to rinse and repeat.
I'm more surprised you need to go to a petrol station to check the pressures, don't you have a foot pump? How often do you check pressures?0 -

He's had it nearly two weeks so you'd think he'd have checked them.
Mind you he doesn't do too well with cars.

Why would I spend goodness knows how much on a tyre pump when I can go to asda and spend 20p? I normally check the tyre pressures once every 2 weeks as I fill up with fuel.0
