  • You can buy a camera connection kit for the iPad which lets you plug in the iPhone via USB and transfer the photos onto the iPad. The official one is £25 from the Apple Store, but I got a know off version from eBay for about £8 which works fine.

If you're wanting to keep them safe, though, you should really get them into cloud storage as you never know what could happen to the iPad! Something like Dropbox or Google Drive would be the quickest way to do this.

Install Dropbox and let camera upload take care of the job, One Drive will do the same job.
    This.

Or Box. Or Google Drive. Or Spideroak.

    Have you actually tried this?

As far as I know the camera kit for iPad is exactly that, for iPad. I'm pretty sure it doesn't work with the iPhone.

Great; thanks for all your ideas. I will have a good look into this. I've used Dropbox for work- sending links to people so they can hear call recordings; but never for photos. I will have a look into. Thanks all so much

Yes I do it on holiday with my knock off one, as I use a combo of digital camera and iPhone to take pictures. I plug the adaptor into the iPad and then connect the iPhone via the USB cable. Then start up the photos app and I can import the photos - it works the same as plugging in a camera via USB.

Aha, I suspect the knock off can do more than the genuine thing.

The genuine Apple one doesn't, probably better to specify exactly what you have so the OP doesn't buy one that won't work.

I would provide a link to the one I've got but I've had it for several years now! It looks very much like this one.

The real one should also work, though, as it specifies this on the Apple store website in the "Product Information" blurb.

If the OP has an iPad with a lightening connection, however, I can't speak to how that works as mine has the older style connector.
