Flat next to railway line

  • I once lived in a flat in a tall block overlooking a suburban rail line. The noise of the trains wasn't a problem, but the horn tooting was (even through triple glazing). It must have been a part of the track where drivers were obliged to do so. That is an extremely annoying way to be awoken at 05.35 every day. I would research the line thoroughly and spend a day observing the frequency and noise.
    They are an EYESORES!!!!
  • Premier inn South kennisington is built over a railway line. Try a night there
  • Everyone's said it, but just to add my data point.

My house backs onto the west coast main line, a few hundred yards away from a Station.

Nobody in the family (or our Dog / Cats) even notice the train after the first couple of weeks, and i've got a house about 1.5 times the size for the money.

My back garden backs on to the Leeds - Bradford Interchange line and I have about 8 trains an hour and they are past within 20 seconds. Barely notice it anymore.

The only thing is in autumn you might get the leaf cleaning trains coming past these sound like a helicopter flying above you but that sonly for a couple of min.
