sooo, im trying to get my gas/leccy consumption as low as it can go. There is 1 adult and children in the house.
I have no tumble dryer so use airers etc for all my washing drying.
I have just sold the dishwasher as it was consuming lots of leccy and I have noticed a huge difference since that has been gone.
My gas is £25 per week and leccy approx £18 per week and water £80 per month (on a meter).
How can i get it lower???
We share baths, only have the heating on 3 hours in morning and 3 hours in evening- i also use this time to get all our washing on the radiators to dry.
any advice will be greatly received.
with love foggy.:p

You need to read your meters at least every week and understand what you are really using.
You need to calculate based on the rates your energy provider is charging you - find out by looking at your moswt recent bill.
There will be a number of pence per day, and a number of pence per KwH.
These are basic things.
If you have got a bill from about a year ago as well as a recent one you can work out the amount of energy you used in a year, which is fundemental to using the comparison sites to get he best deal.0 -
Thanks for your replies, no bills as on meters, this is what i put on the key/card each week. i believe i am with ecotricity (eon) as they were the cheapest for me when i did a comparison just 3 months ago. its £2 per day just in standing charges, the rest is my usage.:happyhear Single Mummy to 7 beautiful kids, :coffee:Snowballing through life, just one day at a time!

I would also look into the usage on your water meter.
Only 2 of you.
£80 a month is a lot to me. That's £960 a year!!
That is as much as you can pay by having your water supply on a rateable value in some areas. And rateable values are the most expensive way to pay to have a water supply.
EDIT : - noted in your signature you have 7 children in the house, so £80 maybe right ...The more I live, the more I learn.

Did you look at Ebico for electricity and gas.
I have Gas from them on a normal meter.
They do not charge standing charges. Cut my gas bill by half.
They also do prepayment meters options. Don't know how that would work for you as I do not know how or what they charge for the meter/energy.
But they may be able to tell what you might be paying with them.
Go to web link below and look around.
https://www.ebico.org.uk/
They piggy back on SSE energy company. The more I live, the more I learn.

If you are with ecotricity, you can call them for the details of what you are paying by your key.
If you can prove who you are and most probably quote your meter number, they should be able to tell you.The more I live, the more I learn.

Forget about Ebico as your usage is too high, they have a zero standing charge but high tariff. If you scroll through your meter various screens you can see your weekly standing charge and tariffs displayed on the screens. The gas prepay you have to press and hold the red button till it beeps. Card needs to be inserted for this0
