Travel Insurance HELP!

Hi, I'm travelling in April but leaving other half here who has a pre-existing serious heart condition. I need to make sure that my travel insurance cancellation will cover me if anything happens to other half either before I go away or whilst I'm away. Hopefully it won't but I still need the reassurance that it does.

Can anyone help? I've read policy documents galore and not really answering questions. I'm at work during day so can't call insurance company at mo, but want to get it all booked.

Thanks in advance.

How far away are you going ?

  • Search on here or the Insurance forum as its asked periodically.

The vast majority of insurers give you no option to declare medical condition of anyone who isnt travelling and just blanket exclude them. There is one insurer that is mentioned on here that does actually allow you to declare them and therefore they can consider providing cover.

Once you've found them then cross compare the cost of that policy with the declared condition -v- booking flexible tickets that'd allow you to cancel/ amend things if an issue arose

I'd have thought many would have a helpdesk open until at least 8 p.m.

Could I ask how long you have been together? Are you married?

Some insurers will cover you to return home early in the event that a close family member (ie mother, father, brother, sister, wife, husband) becomes seriously ill, even if they aren't listed on the policy. It's just a case of finding the ones that will cover this.

All insurers will but not for pre-existing conditions
