Interview Tips & Advice Pls

When they invite questions at the end, how about asking them what it was about your application that made them invite you for an interview - this ensures that the interview ends with them listing all the positive things you have to offer them without you having to do it for them. I tried this and although I didn't get that job it did help me in preparing for the next interview. Good Luck!
That is a good one and like you say you can always use it further down the line if needs be.LBM - April 2007Claimed back my bank charges from Natwest - £1196Halifax Credit Card Claiming £467.35 Rec £467.35!/Capital One Card Claiming - £523.92/Barclaycard Claiming - £403.58 Rec £403.58/MBNA Claiming - £584.37 Rec£584.37Proud to be dealing with my debtsUpdate: 2009 - Currently claiming £1900 from Natwest0 -

Oh yeah, and make sure you eat something before you go, you don't want your belly to start rumbling during the interview, that's happened to me before and I wanted to cry!!DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0

With it being at a Solicitors wear a dark (navy black or grey suit) - a lot of us are old fashioned. Sorry - not sure if you are make or female. If female and you are comfortable doing so wear a skirt suit. I remember at Uni being shown teh Law Society video re interviews and the candidate wore coloured trouser suits. As soon as the video had finished the lecturer told us not to - unless you are going to a trendy firm most Sols would be put off! Good luck0

Thanks for all your help, just wanted to say the interview went well and i was v prepared this time.
Just got to wait and see after they finish interviewing the rest of the candidates whether i will get called back for a 2nd interview, then if im successful weigh up the job offer as i dont think the salary will be matched what im on but then i have to take other things into consideration ie college flexibility, travelling time and transport costs etc.
Will keep you posted, thanks again. xLBM - April 2007Claimed back my bank charges from Natwest - £1196Halifax Credit Card Claiming £467.35 Rec £467.35!/Capital One Card Claiming - £523.92/Barclaycard Claiming - £403.58 Rec £403.58/MBNA Claiming - £584.37 Rec£584.37Proud to be dealing with my debtsUpdate: 2009 - Currently claiming £1900 from Natwest0 -

Yep thats my thinking too you kinda forget how the whole interview process works when youve been in the same job for a while so its all good practice and if i dont get it then its not meant to be well thats how im looking at it anyway!LBM - April 2007Claimed back my bank charges from Natwest - £1196Halifax Credit Card Claiming £467.35 Rec £467.35!/Capital One Card Claiming - £523.92/Barclaycard Claiming - £403.58 Rec £403.58/MBNA Claiming - £584.37 Rec£584.37Proud to be dealing with my debtsUpdate: 2009 - Currently claiming £1900 from Natwest0 -
Ooooooh, I shall keep my eyes peeled for your news! Did they give you any idea when a decision would be made?
Have a think about what you are gonna wear if you're called back cos this happened to me once and they wanted me to go back the same day :eek:DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
Well just to let you know the interview went well and ive been offered the job - thats the good news!
On the other side i know have to weigh up my decision as the pay is less than what im getting now. I expected a drop in pay as im going to be starting out in a new field but the thing is the company fully supports my college studies and is prepared to let me work 4 days a week, however this will be pro rata and will mean even less money than im on approx £7,000 less other than that i can work the full week and use 2 nights a week going to college and take a pay cut of £4,000. This will mean i will be studying for them 2 nights and probably wknds as well as working full time. However i have calculated as i will have paid off my debts by the start of college that i would be able to survive on the £4,000 less per year however i dont want to be back in the same position and end up getting into debt again (which i swear to myself i wont) however i definately wouldnt be able to survive on the £7000 less so thats not an option.
So people the thing is do i take the job in an area i want to and go to college, work full time and take a pay cut or do i hold out for something else, however i know i will have to take a drop in salary at some point as like i say i will be a new starter in the legal environment but again i might not get an opportunity to work in the field i want to and might end up in a job role im not particularly interested in.
What what you do? any advice would be great i need to make my decision by today.LBM - April 2007Claimed back my bank charges from Natwest - £1196Halifax Credit Card Claiming £467.35 Rec £467.35!/Capital One Card Claiming - £523.92/Barclaycard Claiming - £403.58 Rec £403.58/MBNA Claiming - £584.37 Rec£584.37Proud to be dealing with my debtsUpdate: 2009 - Currently claiming £1900 from Natwest0 -
Right well ive decided now after thinking all wknd and working out my outgoings ive decided the best thing to do is to decline the offer as it means having hardly any money to live on and i dont want to be falling into the debt trap again just to survive.
Right well im off job hunting again!LBM - April 2007Claimed back my bank charges from Natwest - £1196Halifax Credit Card Claiming £467.35 Rec £467.35!/Capital One Card Claiming - £523.92/Barclaycard Claiming - £403.58 Rec £403.58/MBNA Claiming - £584.37 Rec£584.37Proud to be dealing with my debtsUpdate: 2009 - Currently claiming £1900 from Natwest0
