    Indeed it is - given the limitation to low cost devices though for it, the primary market is low cost tablets.

    In that particular instance, it is exceptionally difficult to re-activate anything when the disk is dead!

    <snip>

    I feel I've made my point, I have no interest in replying to anything else about this in this thread and waste any more of both of our time.

    You did make your point....that you have no idea as to how to fix the system described by yourself. The system that you claim is easier....and you are supposed to understand exactly how it all works.

    You wrote this:
    Windows 8/8.1 made activation easier by removing the step of having to store/ensure you still have a physical product key incase you lose or have no access to recovery media or a backup
    but then fell at the hurdle of actually describe how you would restore a machine with Windows 8.1 with BING, given your criteria.

    In reality, what you have written is nonsense. They haven't necessarily made activation easier for the average end user....illustrated by the fact that not even an 'experienced Microsoft IT Tech' knows how.

    Most of my work here and on other boards is actually to ensure that people are not running crudely hacked and unsupportable OS on their machines.

    No need to try to hide behind 'Microsoft Speak'. Just say "I don't know", if you don't know how to fix the problem.

    Nothing to do with partnership agreements etc You simply don't know.

    Alternate methods? Did I use an 'alternate method' to provide a solution here?

    It's good that you decided to stop, as I'm not keen on people trying to pull the wool over my eyes.
