The quoted prices include a £600 discount on Zetec S & ST models and a £1,050 discount on all other models which is conditional upon you taking out finance arranged by the dealer. If you do not wish to take out this finance then you will need to add the above amounts to the prices that we quote. Note: You only need to borrow a minimum of £2,500 on Hire Purchase finance to qualify for the above sums of money.

Ford are offering retail customers the following finance deals (not available to small companies):
1. 4.3% APR Representative Finance on Options (PCP or Cashplan) over 24 months.
2. 6.8% APR Representative Finance on Options (PCP or Cashplan) over 36-48 months.
3. 7.2% APR Representative Finance on Acquire (Hire Purchase) over 24 - 48 months.

Can someone give an opinion on the above and if you did take out the £2,500 @ 4.3% over 24 months how much would you have to pay back.
Why are they so keen to give £1010 off a car if you take out the finance
what`s the catch?

£2500 over 24 mths at 4.3% APR will cost you £113.60 over the term. They must give you the option to pay off early, if you do it promptly it could only cost you a few days interest ;) There may also be fees on top - option to purchase and arrangement fees. There are a few threads on the subject. The discount on a C-Max is £2.5K.

I've heard of many people taking the deal on finance to get that special discount or special low rate, or deposit contribution. Worth checking the T's & C's as well for making an early repayment, just like some loans you might have to pay a couple of months interest.
One guy I heard of with a VW, phoned up as soon as he received the paperwork and made an overpayment on his account of almost the whole account, allowing for the first payment to be taken, which basically left the account paid up, he checked with the staff first at VWFS and they confirmed it was all okay. I think his deposit contribution was in the region of £2-3k, well worth it.
Thanks to all the competition posters.

I did this with the last two cars I bought. Audi and Merc. I took out the finance, got £750 - £2000 dealers contribution and paid the finance off within 14 days.
