Approximate cost for having gas supply switched back on?

Hi everyone

We're hoping to exchange on a house this week and it looks like the gas supply is switched off (house empty for >6 months..standard practice blah). Estate agents are looking at getting it switched back on, but in case this doesn't happen, anyone know rough cost of having it reconnected? Ball park figure, no idea if different suppliers charge different rates or if its standard

Has the meter been removed and the supply capped off? If the supply has simply been turned off by the meter, then you simply turn it on yourself.
It's not really anything to do with the EA, but if the supply has been disconnected, it should have come up in the pre-contract enquiries, as (for example) gas CH obviously isn't much of a feature without a gas supply...
It wouldn't be normal to disconnect just for a 6 month vacant period.
