Completion on Friday 13th!

It is possible we may complete on February 13th which is a Friday. My partner, who I thought was relatively sane, says 'no way' is he moving in that day and reckons the other parties won't either.
After the stress and turmoil of the whole process I would do the move then...and in the nude if necessary just to get into the blessed place.
What would everyone else do, will there be removals firms up and down the country doing nothing that day?

If you don't want to move that day, then don't move that day. It's individual choice.
Why do you care what 'everyone else' would do? Either you believe in mumbo-jumbo or you don't.....0 -
Don't worry about 13th, but Friday is not the best day for chain completion. If there's a delay, and someone's solicitor is breaking early for the weekend, you won't get anything sorted until Monday.
If it has to be Friday, aim for am early morning start.0 -
If at all possible, don't complete on a Friday.
*If* there's a problem with completion (vary rare but not impossible), solicitors and banks are then shut until Monday.
Most people want to complete on Friday because they think it's handy to move before the weekend. So you'll actually find that removal firms are quieter on other days of the week.
I vote for Thursday 12th if the rest of the chain agrees. We completed on Thursday 13th Feb last year.0 -
There are often posts on here about issues with moving on a friday as if there problems with anything on moving day then it is likely that it cannot be sorted until monday, whereas if it was a monday, then it is just the next day that it can be sorted.
Having said that, we moved on a friday, and although there were a few hicups with money not being sent, it was all sorted and our removals men were finished by about 4-5pm.
If you mean as it is friday THE 13th, then it is just another day and don't let the date put you off as is just superstitious nonsense imho.0 -
As above. Nothing to do with the great spaghetti eating star goats in the sky or any other superstition and everything to do with the earthbound creatures messing up and leaving you in a hotel for the weekend or messing up the chain.
See if you can get it done on the Monday or as suggested, have a very early start if it has to be Friday. What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
I'd heard that Friday wasn't the best day to complete but plenty of people see it almost as tradition? It is more the 13th factor that is the issue, not with me, but potentially the other sellers and buyers.0

The 13th is just the same as any other day, but personally, when the time comes for us to move, I will be doing everything possible to avoid a Friday after everything I have read here.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D

I'll join you! Possible completion date of Friday 13th - although until you pointed out it was Friday the Thirteenth! it had completely not crossed my mind of the superstition of it all! The not completing on a Friday thing did cross my mind though and I emailed my solicitor to see if she had any advice about suggesting another day. She said that plenty of people complete on a Friday with no problem so fingers crossed that applies to us too! :beer:0

Be also careful not to walk under a ladder and make sure not to cross path with a cat on your way to your new place.
I would also recommend to sacrifice a chicken and to spray holy water around as soon as you move in.0 -
Millions of people are born on Fri 13. I bet most of them are enjoying life.
Stop being superstitious and enjoy lifeHappiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0
