I was a TT customer and took up the offer of a FREE Youview box - linked to an 18 month contract; the bargain deal was for 12 months during which underlying line rental price increased and charges jumped again the last 6 months. I decided to leave at the end of contract and called 6 weeks b4 the end to check the procedure; I was told nothing to do just wait the 6 weeks. I called again 4 weeks b4 the end of contract to give notice - not needed I was told and I was offered a £25/ month deal for 12mths instead of £35/mth if I signed for another 18mths (with no guarantee for the price of the last 6 mths). Once bitten twice shy. I sat out to the end of my contract to get off their hook.
I changed provider and tried to get a refund of the advance charge only to be told I needed to pay 1 month charge and pay £75 for the FREE Youview box ....unless i stayed with them for a further reduced price and a 12 month contract (it seems you can get round the 18mth hook if you push - but I don't want the hassle).
So far I got them to honour the FREE bit - and will get the month's line rental/broadband charge back even if I have to go to court.
TALKTALK??? Never again - I just can't trust them!
