Now that energy prices a dropping slightly any forays I have into the comparison sites are promising savings that are now over 50% of my annual energy bill. £518 savings against a current bill of £900 as opposed to their calculation that I'll be paying £1418
How so? Well, they work out that I'll go onto my existing suppliers SVT when my current tariff runs out, in reality the saving is about £12.48 between now and the end of tariff, less of course £30 exit fee so in reality it will cost me £17.48 to swap now.
Make sure that any savings that you think you'll get are borne out in practice by comparing the actual price per kwh and the actual cost of the standing charge.

One of the (many imo) drawbacks of the privatisation of the energy industry is the parasitic industries that it has spawned. Switching sites most definitely come into that category. It all basically adds to the bill at the end of the day...0

Once again I am in complete agreement with MillicentBystander!
If you are on a fixed tariff ending within the next 12 months it is simply not worth putting in your present tariff. I just leave it at default settings and see the tariffs listed in order of price.0
