Thomson refunding my money to someone else!

I booked an Excursion with Thomson Holiday, for when I was away on holiday. I made the booking on my personal Credit Card as a separate item to the holiday, and the booking was made in the UK before I went away with my daughter.

When I got to the Resort. I was told that the trip was cancelled, due to lack of interest and I was advised to report the matter to the company, when I was back in the country.

I have just been told that they would be refunding the money, in the form of a cheque addressed to my daughter, as she is the lead passenger on the holiday booking, even though the excursion was not a part of the original booking, but added at a later date, using the holiday reference to tie the holiday with the excursion.

My issue is, surely if I made the booking on my CC then they should be making the refund directly back to the card Not issuing a cheque to a third person! My daughter now has to bank the cheque, cash it to give me back my money.

I am utterly amazed that Thomson has said that this is in their terms and conditions, as part of the data protection act!!

Supposed I had fallen out with my daughter during the holiday, I would now be up a creek without a paddle! One for my credit card company!

You'd think, but if that's what the terms and conditions say then that's what they say.

I really don't see the issue though. In fact, I'd personally prefer that as I'd get to keep the cashback/airmiles earnt by spending on the credit card!
  • There was nothing to flag this up at the time of booking. There would not have been a problem if they had.

Is it the terms and conditions as Thompsons have said? And when you booked did you agree to the T&Cs? If both answers are yes then they don't have to do any more. If you agreed to the T&Cs without reading them, as nearly all of us do at least some of the time, then the blame for not knowing about it lies squarely with you. You might say they should flag it up, but why would they pick this to flag up rather than any other item?

Thomson has now agreed to refund the money back to my Credit Card!
