Deceased Father's Collectible Toys - What to do??

I inherited 8 corgi/dinky cars in reasonable condition but no boxes about 15 years ago and just kept them in a cupboard. As I'd sold some other items last year on ebay I decided to look these up on the sold listings and listed them accurately with good photographs.


In the end I listed them individually at a reasonable Buy it Now price with a Best Offer option. Eventually the total I got was about £300 which I was delighted with for something that had been put away in the cupboard.


I also researched them beforehand on various toy car collector sites to double check possible valuations.

With anything getting the best price means finding the right buyer.

This may take a lot of effort time.

There is a saying leave some for the next man, where you trade your effort to someone else for a lesser price.

As in the post above one way to find a price is to try and buy something the same/similar.

Finding the places collectors go to find new stuff will get access to the people looking.

Some of these toys will have a value because they're not made any more i.e. the firms that made them have gone out of business or sold out to foreign competitors. Others have a 'heritage' interest i.e vehicles from an earlier era. For people who have an interest in a particular time frame the vehicles may be collectable. Miss Marple, Hercule Poirot, James Bond, Heartbeat, you name it. They all have vehicles for their era.
