Have bought a car with service history, turns out there's not
Hello all
I bought a 2011 Twingo at the weekend from a registered Vauxhall dealer, it was advertised as having a service history and when I look at the book it just looks like a squiggle and has no stamps.
I've phoned them and they're fobbing me off saying that the guy who previously owned the car was a Renault technician and probably did it himself. But that doesn't help me as I have nothing official to say it's serviced.
What does everyone think? I traded my car in to get this one, have changed insurance etc, and don't know if the lack of service history will affect the value of the car etc.
They said that the'll service it for me in March, but is this good enough? There's 18000 miles on the car.
I'm somewhere between being upset and raging at the min!
Thanks.

Do you have the original advert mentioning FSH?
Worth giving the original supplying Renault dealer a call and asking if they have serviced it.0 -
The advert (of which I have a screen shot) says 'service history'. And the sales man has already contacted Renault and there's none.0

Well, this is the thing when buying a car from a different manufacturer dealership, they can't just fill the empty service book with their own dealer stamps.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Is it good enough? You bought it already.
The time to check the service history etc was before you hand over the money. A sqiggle in the service book could be deemed to be some history.
Not what you were expecting but they didnt claim to have a full manufacturer service history did they?
Its only got 18,000 on the clock so as long as you get it serviced properly it should last a long time.
Always check before handing over the money in future.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Its a Renault, innit.
The fact it has none still means it has a history... its just a history of !!!! all being done to it.0 -

Which Twingo is it?
It may not be a big deal if your book hasn't been stamped but it actually had a service when it should of.
Go back and ask the dealer for a free service and move on."Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0 -

The OP says there is no evidence of it having been serviced.0 -

The first service on a Twingo is due at either 18,000 miles or 1 year (whichever comes first), so although you have no proof that the annual services were done, at least in terms of mileage, the car is bang on due a service.
I would just ask the dealership you bought it off to service your car free of charge now (not waiting til March), get your service book stamped and off you go.0 -

18,000 miles or 1 year, which ever comes sooner. So it should of had 3 services so far at least."Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0
