Apparently my computer thinks its in another country...

Well, that's the impression I am getting recently.
I like to read some blogs. On the ones that have a "Live Traffic Feed" to indicate that "a reader from x location arrived on here y seconds/z minutes ago from....." my location is no longer coming up as my own location iyswim.
Apparently the Live Traffic Feed thinks I'm over in America on these blogs these days. Errr...nope I woke up this morning in Britain as per usual and had got used to a generalised "a visitor from U.K." indicating I'd just clicked onto that blog.
Doesn't bother me...but it does mean I'm wondering if a "bit of my computer" IS actually over there in America iyswim, ie someone from there is recorded as it being their computer there (ie rather than mine here).
A related question is I am now trying to recall which YouTube videos I've previously had a sign coming up saying "Access denied to people from Britain" (cant recall exact wording of it..but that was the message). Think they might have been BBC programmes others can get, but us in Britain cant???
As I thought I'd try to get into these "British access denied" videos and see what happens as to whether I get in or YouTube indicates its recognising my computer as a British one.
Thoughts?

I think it's based on your IP address.0

Hence wondering why a different IP address seems to be coming up on those blogs when I visit.
When you say "obviously", you could be wrong. There have been several threads recently, and I was affected myself a while ago, about applications thinking IP addresses are not in the UK, and one of the explanations seems to be that ISPs have re-used blocks of IP addresses that were previously allocated to another country.0 -
That could well be the explanation then, ie a perfectly innocent one like that then:T
Ooh...does hope I can visit those "British denied access" videos on YouTube then in future:D
My address came up as pretty specific back in my former city in England and when I moved to Wales recently came up as "somewhere in UK" and I thought "That must be the one Wales comes up with, apart from bigger places like Cardiff then".
Oh well....I shant bother myself then whether it knows I'm in Britain or thinks I'm in America:rotfl:0 -
