Looking to get fit (ha ha ha ha ha) and I am interested in the new Nike+ range , unfortunately it's not cheap!
To complete the kit you need the Nike+ trainers which have the hole in bottom for the computer to register how far you run + and ipod nano, the arm band nano holder is quite nice too.
Anyone know where I can get any of this stuff cheaper than the Nike shop does it (the Nike shop doesn't sell Nano's).

Right first things first - you don't need buy the nike trainers. I have bought them got a pair of moire for £40 - quite good price anyway if you can get them for that. If you google nike plus hack you'll see lot of solutions like trainer wallets - small pouches that can hold the sensor. Even ebay it and see.
I myself am looking for a cheap nano as this kit does not work with my ipod video - grrrrrrr! any help would be greatly appreciated.
Good motivation can be had by buying the nike sport music on itunes - grab one of the cheap ways to buy itunes vouchers on her and get em as I believe they prob are better than nike plus.0 -
Ta for the tip, good trainers are essential when running, of course, good trainers not bearing the Nike logo can be found much cheaper.
Anyone got any good suggestions where to get a nano?0 -
Sorry about replying to myself.
The 8 gig 2nd gen nano is £139.99 from here:
http://www.datakits.co.uk/store/apple-ipod-nano-8gb-2nd-gen-in-black-the-best-just-got-better-p-3481.html
Whilst the 2 gig 2nd gen nano is £84.99 (plus P&P) from the same place.
Can anyone suggest and good trainers for running that are relatively inexpensive?0 -
hullo there.
id always recommend going to a running shop for your first pair of trainers for a fitting coz the good ones come in a variety of types depending on what type of feet you have - you will save money in the long run. a lot of trainers as you prob know are just fashion trainers. once you know what size you are etc shop online. sweatshop have a sale on at the mo. wiggle.com have good offers and great delivery.
you can get bargins at running shops - the shoes can change models a couple of times a year - this means last seasons asics can always be found quite cheap. New Balance are very good value. Both brands are in the sale at JDsports. I swear by Brooks tho.
good luck! the runners world forums do have some great advice BTW.0 -

What constitutes a running shop? Not aware of anything local to me (Tamworth).0 -
does anyone know where the nike plus sensor can be purchased cheaply?0

8 gig nano, cheaper still at amazon.co.uk, £131 or for £141 with a silicon case and free arm band (so no need for the £25 Nike+ one, in theory... depends how cack it is!):
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000HZDE2Y/ref=nosim/026-9442113-7802040?ie=UTF8&redirect=true&tag=pricerunner-21&2115R3N1HRCSKTQQLJHelpfulReviews3.v=1&2115R3N1HRCSKTQQLJHelpfulReviews3.s=SUCCESS&voteError=0
To be fair, the price of a nano is an absolute rip off really for what it is, a glorified usb stick. Ah well.
As for the sensor, £16 + P&P (but not sold by amazon):

or £23.95 (inc postage) from John Lewis:

Further to the post about the Nike+ hack I've found these pouches so the sensor can be used on any trainer, apparently it still works just as well.

The official site for these pouches on has them at $6 so how they end up being £5.99 on the above site (the only UK site listed on the official site) I don't know.

Meh, ignore that previous site, crappy £3.99 postage brings total to nearly £10.
This ebayer is selling them for £6.99 with free P&P.
