Old Style VED Transferable?

Just bought a car and it is shown VED until 1st April on the database. I am assuming that because it was taxed under the old system (tax disc) it is still transferable with the car?

Fraid not, whoever was the registered keeper would have got an automatic refund.

Computer systems just a bit behind.

You assume wrong I'm afraid.

It's showing as taxed as the DVLA data base hasn't caught up with, or been informed about the change of keeper yet.

As soon as it does it will show as untaxed and the previous keeper will automatically get a refund cheque sent.

It was untaxed from the minute that you and the previous keeper or dealer filled in the V5C.

If you have driven it at all - even just to drive it home then that was driven with no valid VED.

But you will want to register the car in your name, and as soon as you do that, DVLA will join the dots and make you buy new tax.

I would just prefer to get to February before I have to tax it.
