how to remove dog poop smell from vacuum pipe

hi, we have a canister vacuum cleaner - the type with a long hose with a pipe attached to the main body. i cleaned up dog poop with it many months ago and ever since then the smell remains in the pipes, and comes out of the other end of the vacuum, when the air gets blown out. any idea how to get this out ?
i tried soaking the pipe overnight in a bucket of water and fairy. it helped a little but not a lot. somehow i think i've got to find a way to scrub inside the pipe, but it is so long. unless i use a broom handle or something

Water and bicarb?
Or buy a new hose for itThe best portion of your life will be the small, nameless moments you spend smiling with someone who matters to you.0 -
My god why would you suck dog poo into your vacuum cleaner? Sorry but thats totally gross.. no wonder it smells.. can you not buy a replacement pipe?#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Jesus Holy Mother Mary of God, surely this is a wind up!! If it isn't its the funniest thing i've read for a long long time, i'm nearly crying.
Let me get this right, you somehow managed to suck a huge humdinger of a dog turd up through the long nozzle and into the "cannister", swishing it about bit and making sure its well and truly blended, i'm thinking of a mars bar in a blender or was it extra hard and stayed in one piece?. You then (I presume) had a bit of a rinse out but have continued to clean all around the home where you and your family wine, dine and sleep whilst your hoover emits what I can only imagine as an awful shat/fart type smell. My advice is to take the whole hoover to the nearest dump, clean your house from top to bottom for approx 2 weeks and then proceed to purchase a new/second hand one or see freeads/Freegle or something.0 -

You won't get rid of the smell because it's in the pipe , filters , motor , basically everywhere
Best suggestion

take the hose apart ( all of them come apart some twist and click others just pull apart )
(im a cleaner by trade) just use a radiator brush (long bendy type brush for cleaning down backs of radiators/ small gaps ect and dettol disinfectant hot soapy water and give it a good clean out that will do it guarenteed ...get all sorts of muck in our vacs .....
do the same for the filters (if they are washable ones ) paper ones will need replacing
and dont forget the dust bucket(if yours uses one ) and the floor brush as well / other attachments disinfect all the removable parts dry thouroughly you will be back in business
* rule of thumb* if you can remove from the motor it can be disinfected (not including paper filters)the memory of you will grow like flower in garden of me heart:coffee:0 -
first of all remove the said pipe from the dogs a3se:o0

I also dont think you will get rid of the smell , but one last try would be to take said pipe outside and put your jet washer through it with some disinfectant , then hang it over somewhere to drip dry , I also expect the canister will stink vile too, next time you have crap to clear up why not try using a old dustpan and brush.......My motto is " one life live it ".....:)0

Or put a nappy on the mutt!!!!0 -
thanks wingchun. i'll look for a radiator brush.
i think some people assumed it was a normal large chunk - he had watery diarriah. so i let it dry and tried to scrape it off the carpet and vacuum it off when i was done.
a new one would be wasteful and would not be a current option financially.0
