Check Companies House and see how long he's been under that name. It may give you an indication whether he'll liquidate and start again at the threat of court.0 -
From what I can tell, guy stepped down from being a Director Jan 2014 and it looks like his wife is now the Director of the company. The company has been going for a couple of years now.0

That would indicate a problem end of 2013 and him possibly trying to avoid his responsibilities.0 -

Loooong shot, wonder if he's disqualified or bankrupt or something and now playing shadow director.
Is anybody there when he's not?
setup an appointment if not. I suspect it'll get heated when he realises what's happened, but who cares, sounds like he has no intention of giving you your money back!!
Do a director search also and see if he has q history of closing companies down.0
