  • That's brilliant thanks. I just went out and had a quick look (not attempted to fix it yet.)

I noted one thing that may be relevant. The upper rod is loose when depressed at the area around the white ball things. It is loose at either end (near the white ball.)

Does this signify anything of interest?

    Thanks

Yes, the ball joint is broken.

Why not try and push it together it won't do any harm.

Have you tried tightening the spindle yet?

it is not broken,as strider says have you checked the spindles yet?
  • Hi

Thanks for all the replies. I'm not attempting to fix this one today, due to other things going on.

I will attempt to tighten the spindles first tomorrow. Apologies, but could someone give me advice on how to do this. I'll be honest I don't even know what a spindle is, and was going to research it on the internet.

    Cheers

Please now take it to a friendly, recommended, local garage for an agreed price fix. The thought of a cracked windscreen and bloodied hands and wrists is too much to bear.

if you look at joes picture just above his red circle you can see the wiper arm remove the plastic cap and you will see the nut.make sure your wipers are in park, the one that isn't is the one you have to move to the park position and tighten up
  • Hi

In response to Colino, maybe a good idea, but surely chance of smashed windscreen is low?

And in response to TedTed, is ok to force both the windscreen wipers down (to park position) manually? As you will see from photo, both of them are stuck halfway up the windscreen.

    Cheers

  • I was just thinking. Colino might be right about taking it to a garage. I doubt I will smash the windscreen, however more concerned about scratching it (MOT fail.)

From the photos and evidence above, do you think I could take it to garage and:

    a) Get them to do the 'cheap and nasty fix' e.g with bungee chord, or advise me on how to do it.

    or

    b) The only option a garage could offer is full repair in region of £100 to £200.

I'm really trying to avoid option b) as have no income at moment.

    Cheers

i think you ought to take it to a garage as you don't seem to take on board that this is a 5 minute fix at the most
