just recently had my car written off, not my fault, but just purchased another car at auction supplied by arnold clark, the problem i have just found out is i cant tax the car due to not having the reg doc or the supplement slip, so i knew i aced a £25 charge for new reg doc, what i was not aware off now the new tax system is running that i still have to wait for the new reg doc to arrive before i can tax it, which could take upto 6 weeks, and wont be able to use new car until then, do most people know this, what if you have to rely on your car for work, you could lose your job, or the cost of having to hire a car, or a family relying on a car, its a complete jock, lets hope the paperwork does not go missing

I've bought a car at auction but had the new keeper slip as it was completed at the cash desk and handed over to me at the time. Then the auction house sent off the rest of the V5. I was still able to tax the car with the new keeper slip. Why don't you have a new keeper slip?
If the car was sold without a V5, it would have been clearly stated on the particulars of sale.0 -

Unfortunately that is the problem with buying a car without the new keeper supplement or a V62 and paying £25, it is no different to the old system.0 -
Yeah, I got given a car and taxed it with the new keeper slip. You should have that at least, otherwise your right, you are going to have to wait 6 weeks (or more).0
