Is this quote reasonable?

Hi guys!

Long story short, our brand new Mercedes got two big dents in the front LH passenger door after some **** opened their door onto ours and drove off sharpish.

Our first port of call was Mercedes themselves who told us without hesitation that we needed a new door for the grand total of £1800!!! We have since had two other quotes, ranging from £420 to £700 (neither of which mentioned needing a new door!). Just wondered if you thought the £700 was reasonable - bearing in mind its a Mercedes approved body work garage and the cheaper one wasn't??

Any insight would be great, still fuming about it!

Until you see the quality of the repair who knows if its reasonable.

Mercedes approved or not it all comes down to the guy doing the job on the day.

On the information you have given, £700 seems reasonable.

If the paint isn't broke it may be worth getting a quote from a smart repair company.

My Dad had a dent in the door on his Audi from some careless numpty and had it repaired for £60ish as the paint wasn't broken.

Obviously if the paint is damaged then a body shop is the only answer.

Without seeing pictures it might be possible for it to be repaired pdr ( paintless dent removal ) for a lot less than those quotes.
Have a look for 'dent devil' or similar in yellow pages in your area

The paint is well and truly broken unfortunately so PDR is not an option!
