Hi! I'm trying to find out if there would be any complications to opening a bank account with my partner. We have recently got engaged and want to open a savings account or bank account together to use for the wedding. I have poor credit history, but he is in an IVA. I don't want there to be any risk of the money in the joint account being taken etc as most of it will be from family and me. Is it safer just to have a separate savings account in my name? I also don't want him to get into trouble for having an account with money in it if that is something that could happen! Thanks!

One just in your name sounds like the right way to go hereThere's just too much to go wrong, and not really that much to gain from a joint a/c
Don't spend too much on the wedding. Money troubles are sadly a common source of marital problems, and let's face it, doesn't sound like either of you are starting on an ideal footing.
Think chic but low cost - and best wishes to both of you for a happy future!0
