Which address should I register with Experian?

I live in a rented house and tend to move every couple of years, and so I've always left my bank details registered to my parent's address to save moving them all the time.

I'm thinking I'll be wanting a mortgage in a year or two so decided to use the Experian CreditExpert free trial to find out what shape my credit rating is in. However now that I'm signing up on their website, I'm not sure which address to enter first, or how to explain the situation to them...

I could enter the address where I currently live and rent, as this is where I pay my utility bills, and my car insurance, HMRC self-assessment, mobile phone and electoral roll are registered to.

Then it's just the fact that Nationwide has me registered at my parents' address (i.e. my billing address when I buy stuff online, and where they send bank related letters.)

Any advice on how to input the right data in the right boxes would be much appreciated!

OR do I need to change my address with Nationwide to match my actual living address before I have any chance of getting a mortgage?

I would definitely use your actual address that you use for the electoral roll.

I would also change your bank accounts to your actual address.

    Hi T Diddly,

Checking your report before your ready to apply for a mortgage is always a good idea, so that you will know exactly what's on your report before you start making applications!

As Tixy has said, applying for your report from yoru current address is the best idea. When you apply for your report we do a number of checks to confirm your ID, so the more information we can confirm the more likely it will be to accept.

if you add your parents address as a previous address you will still be able to view any information in your name at that address too.

Once you have the report we are always happy to help with any questions you have about the information recorded, our contact details are here

Best of luck when you are ready to apply for you mortgage too.

    Kind Regards Neil
