Property management company and CRAs

I have forgotten to pay my ground rent to the property management company that collects the payments for the freeholder. Ive sent them the cheque today as I had put it in my bag and then forgotten to post it.
Anyway they have sent a letter stating that if it is not paid within 7 days (21 days after it was due), they will contact Credit reference agencies and them doing this may affect my credit rating (para phrasing as I dont have the letter to hand).
Im jsut wondering what exactly that means as I dont have a credit agreement with them so what exactly can they contact the CRAs about and what is it going to show on my files?
Obviously as im paying and have informed them of such it not actually a problem, but Im intrigued to find out what they could do.

to my knowledge, the only way they could get something registered with the CRAs is by pursuing a CCJ for the debt, after all the necessary steps have been taken via the courts.
As you say, they have not lent money so I don't think they could do anything else (anyone who knows better, feel free to correct)
I believe it is probably just a scare tactic, playing on the fact that people might not be as savvy...Mortgage = [STRIKE]£113,495 (May 2009)[/STRIKE] £67462.74 Jun 20190 -

That was my thoughts that they would need a CCJ, in fact thats what I told my wife, but I had a nagging doubt so thought Id ask.
Frustratingly they are quite nice people when I call them up but they seem to be overly aggressive in pursuing payment. As I say they send a letter every 7 days, which on both occasions has taken 4 days to arrive as the use franked second class mail.
If anyone does know different please educate us.0
