Express Trainers

Sorry long post but
Thought I would bring it to everyones attention that this seems to be another company willing to lie about their competitions.
Throughout October to December they were running a competition where you had to design a pair of trainers for them. I'm not sure if any one on here entered as there were not many entries at all which I thought gave myself a few others who entered a decent chance of winning.
On the day the competition ended I decided to look up the hashtag required to enter on their Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to see who I was up against. When they announced a winner was chosen but wouldn't reveal who I then messaged entrants asking if the lucky winner was them, which each replied no. I then asked Express Trainers to show who won on their page as their T&C said they would. They ignored me for a while until others complained, and they then blamed the XMas period and said they would post it around the 29th December. Once again even though they were posting new posts on their social media sites they never posted who won.
I decided to contact the ASA about this. Whilst Express Trainers replied to my complaint on their page saying their social media manager was away and they would post the winner soon before hiding that post on their facebook.
Today on their Facebook they announced a winner and put up a picture. Funnily enough it was a design I had not seen originally when I looked, probably because it didn't exist.
Another person working alongside me to get to the bottom of this asked them for the link to the winners post. They replied saying that entries were also given via email and in person. Which had me confused, so I went back to check their T&C to see if you were allowed to enter via email. Low and behold it did say you could enter via email... But I was still confused as I was sure the T&C said only Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Luckily for me I had screenshot their Terms and Conditions from when the competition ended and I was right. The slime balls have actually changed their terms and conditions this week so they could get away with picking a fake winner!!!

That's naughty! Are you going to contact the ASA again? Also, a few thread's down there's a post about CAP guidance on prize draws for social media!Debbie0

I'm still waiting for a reply from the first time I contacted them. Am I wrong in saying they are not allowed to alter their terms and conditions after the competition has ended? Or are they allowed to do that. They are claiming on Twitter that it was open to entry by any methods, email, in person. But if it didn't say that in the Terms originally surely that's discrimination against people who might of wanted to email their entry instead of advertise for them in the first place?
I'm not sure whether I'm in the right or not with this one but it definitely seems certain to me they have made a false winner to avoid giving a prize out.0 -
It's worrying when a company running a competition can't spell the word "entries".0

lol. I'm getting a load of abuse from some pretender on their Facebook page. Dissing me for being a comper then you look at his page and it's full of competitions. What's the chances of it being an MSE member? lol
Express Trainers Exployee of the month I'm thinking.0 -
Just went off to have a peek! Classy eh?! Noticed they also only have two friends! Quite sure I've come across that name somewhere before recently - Probably another controversial post on FB!!Debbie0

I see that person saying 'Great to see a kid win this and not some sad old !!!!!! who sits at home entering every competition under the sun rather than getting off his !!!! and working for a living.'
has infact a timeline strewn with competition entries themselves0 -
It's comedy gold. I love the way he kept pushing the word old without having a clue who I am or how old I might be lol.0

New i'd seen the name before! Just checked the Nick posts on FB and the same person was vocal on that too!!Debbie0

No doubt at all it's an MSE member.0

LOL Thanks to someone who just private messaged me. I won't give their name out but they pointed out to me that he is an MSE member, in fact he has been registered on this website since 2007 compared to my 2012 and he wants to call me out on being a comper....... What an embarassment he is to himself.0
