Gap between cooker and worktop...

  • If it's a gas cooker then the current standard for clearances between a gas slot in cooker and the worktop is 20mm either side

    Hi Guys,

I know this is an old thread but I thought I would help anybody else who comes across this problem. I had a gap between my stove and my counter about 2-3cm on each side.

I was able to close the gap with this that I found on ebay –

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Smiths-Silicone-Stove-Counter-Gap-Covers-2-Pack-/272134761400?var=&hash=item3f5c7eebb8:m:m3qN0TqnSvRDxXVm4KbqGNQ

    Hope it helps.
  • Een705 you are a star! I got sick of the gaps on each side (if something isn't perfect it highly annoys me), don't even mention the food that falls down there! I even made an account on here just to thank you haha.

For anybody else who comes across this Een705s link is great however I couldn't buy from it. I'm assuming their auction ended? they do seem to sell it on amazon though, simply type 'Smith's Silicon Gap Seal' in amazon and it should come up.

    See you soon!
  • Hi, just saw this. Not sure if it'll still be of use but I closed a similar gap recently using a wholesaler. Not through buying thousands of gap fillers (they have both 'edge lipping' and 'plastic capping'- I'm not sure there's too much difference!) but through their free samples. Sneaky I know but did the trick ;) just search MKM plastic capping It's also UK-based

    Hope it helps!

THANK YOU! Been looking for something like this for AGES!

PS. The ones I ordered are 'Smith's Silicone Gap Seal' from Amazon.co.uk.

    Cheers!
  • Quick update: So I just received these the silicone gap covers this morning and they look great, fit in my gap perfectly, let's hope they stand the test of time.
  • Lol mickeymouse303 that's sneaky but brilliant! :)
  • Agreed, sneaky, very sneaky! ;)
  • Quick Update Number 2: So happy I never have to pull the cooker out again! Every time I see a crumb on the gap cover I rejoice and get excited because I know it's 1 less crumb that I have to sweep up later. All in all the gap cover is my Berlin wall, except this one doesn't look like it's going to be coming down anytime soon :)

it can be 0 I believe, as mine has no gap and yet it still pasted a gas safety check.
