Charges on defaulted account

I'm after some help please, I have a default on a mint credit card from 2 years ago which I am paying off and will be settled by Jan 2016. My current balance is £2000. The original card balance was £3500 but the default amount was £5000 making £1500 added to the total in charges. I have been thinking of contacting them to try and reclaim charges added to the account but am concerned that it will rock the boat with regards to the default and could affect my credit file further. Can anyone advise if I try and reclaim any charges could it have a further affect on my file?

It wont all be charges. A fair proportion of that will be interest.I have been thinking of contacting them to try and reclaim charges added to the account but am concerned that it will rock the boat with regards to the default and could affect my credit file further.
you can ask them to review charges. it wont have an impact on the outcome if they refuse.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Thanks for the reply. As long as it won't have any other impact (I would hate to get a ccj now after paying it for 2 years) then I can try and reclaim, hopefully the review will knock a bit off the balance and I can have it settled sooner.0

Are these 'charges' of £1500 for over credit limit and late payments by any chance ? What were the amounts £12.00 ? How far back do these charges go ?0 -
Yes these charges were for over limit and late payment. I think they were around £12 - £15. Charges from 2011 - 2012 though the account was open for around 7 years.0
