Universal Serial Bus Controller
My Packard Bell and Wifes Toshiba Laptop both Windows ME has develop both the same fault
In the Device Manager
The – sign on the Universal Serial Bus Controller with a yellow ? with Intel (r) 82801 BA/BAM USB Universal host controller
The load device solution, results in the best driver windows found is already installed for this device.
In the device status it says
The NTKERN.VXD device loaders for this device could not load the device driver code 2
Does that make sence
Is this problem related to my Epson Twain Scanner Driver missing
Help and thank you

It sounds like the incorrect version of the USB controller’s drivers have somehow been installed. To fix the problem you’ll need your Windows CD to hand, but first, locate the following files in the Windows\System32\Drivers folder: Uhcd.sys, Usbhub.sys, Usbd.sys. Rename all three (we suggest replacing the .sys extension with .old), then extract fresh ones from your Windows CD.
To do this, run System File Checker by clicking Start, Run, typing sfc and pressing [Return]. Select Extract one file from the installation disk, type uhcd.sys into the ‘Specify the system file you would like to restore’ box and click Start. Make sure that the ‘Restore from:’ box points towards the Win98 directory on your CD-ROM, and that the ‘Save file in:’ box points towards C:\Windows\ system32\drivers. Click OK, and when Windows finishes restoring the file click OK. Now repeat the process for Usbhub.sys and the Usbd.sys. Finally, click Close and restart when prompted.
