Potentially moving abroad

I've applied and been accepted for a work visa abroad as I fancy a change in direction.
Obviously, I don't want to put all my eggs in one basket; I have sold my house here and will be staying with relatives until I the visa arrives.
Should I be making any new arrangements with accounts and card?
1 - for use there until i'm setup and for travelling back here/ Europe.
2- incase things don't workout and i want to come back.
I've got a Clarity Mastercard, Amex, Yorkshire Bank Direct and Nationwide FlexDirect accounts

It would probably help if you said which country you are going to. Presumably non-EU if you need a visa to work.
Quick work selling the house if you don't actually have the visa in your possession yet.Are you for real? - Glass Half Empty??

Be aware that you won't be able to open bank accounts once you are no longer a UK resident, but you can usually keep your existing accounts, especially if your foreign stay is temporary. So open whatever you believe you might need once abroad.
You would probably find other useful tips on expat forums for the country you are planning to go to.0 -
You should be able to keep all your accounts open, just contact the bank and ask them of their policies. Credit cards may be different, so you'll have to ask.Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.
ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.0 -
Canada.
I was planning to move anyway, so thought I would sell my property for the equity (visa requires about 6k) and either get the work visa or move elsewhere in the UK / Europe if not...
Seems no cross-border banking setups except HSBC.Fruit_and_Nut_Case wrote: »It would probably help if you said which country you are going to. Presumably non-EU if you need a visa to work.

Did a brief search on here and noticed some banks close accounts for non-residents.
Will do more research on ex-pat forums as Oz seems the locale of choice for many friends who emigrate.Archi_Bald wrote: »Be aware that you won't be able to open bank accounts once you are no longer a UK resident, but you can usually keep your existing accounts, especially if your foreign stay is temporary. Thanks for the tip. Looks like they closed most of their consumer banking in Canada a few years ago.
