Plastic Light Fittings on Bathroom Ceiling

Options
Hi.

Just bought a house. In the bathroom there is a ceiling light above the bath/shower with a metal fitting. Electrician has carried out a safety inspection and noted that the wiring in the ceiling is the old 2-cable type. He has said a combination of a lack of earth in the ceiling light wiring and the location of the metal light fitting are a safety hazard.

Any advice on where I can get a reasonably cheap Zone 1 plastic light fitting for the bathroom ceiling? I don't need anything fancy, just something to tide me over in the short term until I get the ceiling light rewired completely.

Thanks,
Shie6523.

  • As an alternative suggestion could you not run a temporary earth wire from the fitting to a suitable earthing point?
  • The zone 1 is a problem as most manufacturers say their product is for zone 2.

Something like this or this should be suitable although it doesn't say specifically zone 1.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.
