    I'd seriously consider a tablet. I keep my EEE701 at my mum's in case I'm there without any other device (which is very rare) and I used it at Christmas, I was surprised at how heavy it was compared to modern lightweight kit, although when I carried it around SE Asia for 4 months in 2008/9 it didn't seem that bad.
