Shopping-Daily or Weekly?

I do a proper shop once a week, at our big Sainsbug's (about 5 miles away). I then do a top-up in between times if I need to at our little Sainsbug Local (5 minute walk away).
As to not being disciplined enough to just buy what's on your list, the only person who can do anything about that is you.No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0 -
I send Mr LW to the monthly Farmers Market, where we get cheese, eggs, bread flour and honey.
Weekly to the F&V market in Central MK, as Sautrday is the only day Mr LW can take me when the market is on (I'm disabled and don't have my own car anymore as we couldn't justify running two).
Other than that, we have a "rolling" shopping list; I tend to keep"one on the go and one (or a few) spare" of packets and tins, and when we put a packet/tin in the recycling, we add that item to the shopping list. When the list is long enough, OR we need something "now", eg milk, we shop. I look at what's on the list and decide from that whether to go to @ldi, T3sco, or send Mr LW to M0rries in his lunch break.
Most packets/tins are from @ldi.
Frozens - veggie sausages, Qu0rn fillets, etc - from T3sco as our local @ldi doesn't sell them and Mr LW has nowhere to store frozens at work.
Some packets from M0rries, as I can't get them in either of the other outlets - large jars of M@rmite, and Mr LW's chewing gum (he likes it for when he's driving) are from M0rries.
It probably sounds chaotic, but it works for us.:DIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

That is such a good idea! I'm rubbish at keeping on top of our cupboard supplies. Nicking that one

I tend to be either an every day kind of shopper or a every other day kind of shopper (makes more sense for me to do that due to storage space and time and money) so I can get a few bits little and often.Feb NSD's 2/10 under my belt.

I do a Morrisons stock cupboard shop every couple of months and top up in Aldi weekly. I do get v tempted by offers etc so prefer to shop less frequently.GC: Feb (16th Jan - 15th Feb) £46.25 / £50

I posted a similar thread not long ago but I have converted to every couple/few days although still get a supermarket delivery when I need bulky and heavy things.
I found when I was shopping weekly, I was wasting so much stuff but now, I just get what I need. Like the other day I made fajitas and bought the chicken, one onion and a pack of peppers (they were cheaper than loose). I've also bought a couple of less money saving things like ready peeled and diced potatoes but they have been used because they have been easy - shoved in my actifry with herbs and garlic and served with a salmon fillet.
My main problem was not fancying what I had bought in my weekly shop and ending up wasting and then getting takeaways. This way, I always have store cupboard and things in but then choose what I actually want. My actifry has been a boon too because I have done loads in it.0 -
My shopping is very adhoc
I live close to a chicken processing factory that has an outlet. So I tend to hit there every couple of weeks or so.. It's adhoc as to what they have, but whatever I buy from there gives me my basis for the month
Then I hit mr t and the ys shelf and see what's a good buy there. From those two shops I kind of meal plan in my head. ie I get enough veg to do me a few days.
Store cupboard and toiletries etc, I have a rolling list in my head. If something I usually use is on special, I buy. If not I miss out that week. Means sometimes my stock pile is low but I rarely if ever run out, and I refuse to buy at top price
I may shop three times a week but mostly twice. Works for us0 -

I don't know how they'd do in an Actifry but have you tried tinned potatoes? They're very mse and fry and roast well. Great basis for a Spanish omelette/frittata too.0 -

Ooh what a good idea. Only thing I find is that tinned (IIRC) are quite wet and soft which would probably be no good in the actifry. I will probably give it a go though - can't hurt to try.0 -
Hi All
I am trying a shop when I need it for the next week or so to see if it works out cheaper as an experiment. Yesterday was a good success purchased 7 items and 5 were YS! I think I will still stock up on certain items when they are on offer to try keep costs down
Unfortunatly where we are I am working when our weekly market is on but I have found a local veg shop so will start picking up bits and pieces there so it is fresh.NOT BUYING IT 2018!
Consumerism is.....buying things you don't need with money you don't have to impress people you don't know and probably wouldn't like even if you did know them.0
