belina monitor gone dark

I have just been to get a tea and when I returned to my pc my monitor has gone a lot darker.

The monitor is a belina and I've had it for a number of years.

All the dark colors are now practically black making it very gloomy. I've had a fiddle with the brightness but no joy.

Is it knackered and time for a new one or have I missed a trick?

Sounds like it is knackered, have you checked the connections at the back of the monitor and computer? They can become loose over time usually the screen changes colour but can go dim.

Worth a check before a new purchase.
  • Just to be on the safe side, if you have another cable, try replace that from your monitor to your PC.
If the problem still exists, I'm afraid to say it may have had it.

It's unlikely that a graphics card failure would make the screen go dark.

It's worth checking your GFX card display settings, something may have turned down the brightness or gamma.

The true test is whether the monitors OSD (on screen display) is dull too, because this is totally independent of the PC, if this is the case then the monitor is definitely shafted.
