I need to buy a new desktop pc to replace my dying Windows ME machine.I was all set to buy the Dell Inspiron 530 with Vista but then realised Vista is not compatible with the new digital camera I bought (Fujifilm F20) or my Creative Zen Nano mp3 player. I really need a new pc with XP installed but have no idea where to look for one.I thought Dell were still doing some desktops with XP but I have just spoken to someone there and they said they don't do them anymore:(I don't want anything too flashy but want it to be able to run a couple of programsat the same time without it locking up (like Windows ME!).It also needs a dvd-rw drive. Oh, and I don't want to spend over £400.Hope someone can help!!

A lot of manufacturers are no longer supplying brand new systems with XP. You should still be able to find some though, will have a google for you.
How about something like

Maybe a stupid question but, have you been on the Fuji website (or any other) to see if there's any new drivers for your camera, that compatible with Vista ?
Aldi are selling a decent spec Medion base unit this thursday for £400, but with Vista I'm afraid.0 -

There appears to be Vista drivers on Fujis website?

Also there is a Creative Zen knowledgebase on Vista here

I've checked the Fuji website and there are no Vista updates for my camera unfortunately.I probably would've limped on with my current pc but I bought a new all in one printer at the weekend for £20 less than it should've been and in my excitement at getting such a bargain didn't spot that it's not compatible with ME. Grr - stupid girl!0

I would be really surprised if the camera and MP3 didn't work with Vista, I suggest you go to a knowledgable local computer reseller who can check it for you.0

You can always buy the components, and get either a friend, or a local PC assistance shop to assemble the parts.0

Have a look at Komplett, my current PC was from there and I'm happy with it, mine runs Vista but they still offer XP. Go to this link choose a system and then click on one of the customise buttons and you get the option to have XP instead of Vista.
Personally I like Vista and would try and test the camera and MP3 player out on a VIsta system first if you know anyone with Vista.

I have also just bought a fuji f20 and am planning to get a new computer with vista.
I checked the fujifilm (UK) website and it stated that all their cameras worked with vista. Hit the following link and click on compatability
http://www.fujifilm.co.uk/digital/cameras/f20/?lpage=/digital/cameras/range.php
they also gave a link to download an update for finepix viewer to work on vista.

I afraid I dont have any info on creative.0 -
Forgot to say earlier, I've got an old Fujifilm A310 (I think!) camera and it works fine with Vista. However I haven't installed any of the Fujifilm software as the built in software in Vista is very good, much better than in XP. The tagging function is one I find particularly useful.
I didn't even have to install any drivers for the camera, Vista picked it up without any problems. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0
