Should we pay into personal a/c

Hi all,
We have a good quotation from one of the builders for electrical and interior decoration, but he needs 25% advance which seems reasonable. But he is asking me to tranfer money via bank to his personal a/c! Is this fair and what's the best possible method of transferring is? i.e. cheque/internet xfer etc.

Please advice!

Whichever way you do it, make sure you get a proper, typed invoice, that shows the VAT being charged.

The easiest way is to do it via Internet banking, The advantage is that he doesn't have to go and pay the cheque into his bank account so the money is transferred quicker. I guess he'll also be looking for future payments this way once the work has been completed.

I would still ask for a receipt from him to show that the money has been received even though your bank details will show the money has been transferred.
