A friend in work paid £900 for a plumber to install a new bathroom, inc floor to ceiling tiling. They provided the bath, sink, toilet and the tiles.
It was completely stripped out, new floor, sink, bath , toilet installed then tiled...
Like I have said before..

Mechanics?
I don't have any tools but considered buying a socket set. Id like to be able to change oil myself, maybe breaks, wheel bearings, things like that.
I would always recommend this to anyone (you will need other things like spanners, screwdrivers, a torque wrench etc). With the aid of a Haynes manual, many jobs on a car are within reach of a beginner home mechanic. You're not going to be diagnosing an ECU fault straight off, but replacing wearing items and servicing should be within reach.
Definitely start with simpler stuff like basic servicing tasks to get your confidence and experience up before moving on to safety items like brakes though.
Wheelbearings generally need drifts to get in and out and taper roller ones can be damaged when fitting if you don't know what you are doing, so if you have a friend with a bit of experience / enthusiasm, ask them if they can supervise you.
Oh, and wear overalls / sacrificial clothing. Oil doesn't wash out, no matter what the washing powder adverts say!
I actually no longer service my daily driver car these days due to lack of time - just got too much other stuff that needs doing so I end up paying a garage. Be careful with trying to do the gutting of the bathroom- it always takes longer, makes a bigger mess and needs more money to put right than you think. We took some tiles off at our old house and it ended up needing to be skimmed, partly because of our cr*p efforts and partly due to poor workmanship in the firstplace.
And plumbing can be 'interesting' if something is seized etc.
We do a lot of the DIY ourselves, e.g. decorating, changing a light fitting etc but some things we would rather have help for as it's so bl**dy difficult ti do them well0 -
You can tile over old tiles if they are sound enough.0
