Wetroom flooring fix?

We have a wetroom with contract vinyl type flooring (Altro Aquarius) but two of the corner seams are damaged and have been repaired unsuccessfully with silicone sealant. This has caused a damp problem on the walls. We've stripped off tiles and will aquaboard but need to fix the corner seams. But a local company (highly recommended) have quoted £350 to repair and £550 to replace which is far beyond our budget.

It wouldn't be so pretty but I wonder if we could effect a repair by tanking behind the corners then fixing the flooring over the top. Or we'd have to replace it with something cheaper but it's good quality so this seems a shame.

We already plan to run the aquaboards almost down to the floor so this will cover some of the gap (flooring rises up the wall by about 15cm).
