Does This Seem Legit?
Last week my mate moved into his new house. The owner knocked £1,000 off his asking price on the condition that my mate would have to clear the garage - two afternoons' worth of work at the most.
Whilst clearing it we came across two Audi alloys. They are eighteen inch in size and have Pirelli tyres on them. They look to be RS4 alloys according to Mr Google, whatever that means.
I don't know much about cars, or wheels, but I thought they might be worth something, so I've put them on Gumtree for a £100.
I've had a fair bit of interest - including two folk who are prepared to travel from England - one from Burnley and the other Leeds. To me it seems bizarre that people would travel all that distance (I'm in Central Scotland) for two wheels, which suggests to me two things:
1) I've grossly underestimated how much these wheels are worth
2) It's some kind of scam.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I can post a link to the Gumtree ad if it helps.

Not a great surprise - they're fairly cheap, but probably not an absolute steal. RS4 is a fast Audi, but the wheels will fit almost any recent VW/Audi/Skoda.
TBH, I'd just shrug and chalk it up to experience, and regard it as a nice little bonus from the vendor. If it all falls through, list 'em on eBay as an auction, and let them find their own value.0 -
Are they in good condition? The alloys alone (excluding the tyres) are probably worth £100 or so each. Depending on what specific tyres they are, they could be worth over £100 each if new or nearly new.
So all in all, could be worth £400-£600ish if in excellent condition, but depends on the specifics.0 -
There are currently 4 No used Audi RS4 B5 18" Genuine Alloys on EBay for £1,096 or Best Offer so if you've got 2 No B5s then £100 for the pair is a good buy!0

As long as he pays in cash I don't see a problem... undervalued or not, it's £100 you weren't expecting.Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0

An RS4, although an Audi, is a specialist car so if parts pop up for a reasonable price, people will travel a fair distance for them.0
