I currently live with my mum, step dad and my 3 year old daughter in a council house.
My mum is only 1 on the tenancy.
Unfortunately my parents relationship has broken down and my step dad wants to go into sheltered accommodation and my mum would like to also move, which means her giving up tenancy in a house and me and my daughter homeless I guess.
I've asked her to hand the tenancy over to me but she thinks I can't as she has to give house up to get her own smaller place.
Can anyone advise?
I'm going to see if I can go to the council with my mum when she does to see where i stand at the moment, my mum isn't being very helpful.

Your first port of call is the council?0

I know council is 1st people to contact but was just wondering if anyone knew what would happen0

What is preventing you from looking for a private rental?0

Why does your mum want to move.
'specially seeing as she would be making her daughter and grand daughter homeless.
Hard to believe to be honest that any mother could do that.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Is it a council property you all live in just now? If so and your mum is looking to downsize then she can probably do a home swap with someone else looking for a larger family home. This means that your mum's tenancy will go from the current property to the new one. You'll need to find your own home to live in be it private rented accommodation, buying your own home or possibly being housed by the council (although the council might place you in temporary accommodation at first).0

I dont think its your mums job to be helpful. she clearly has a relationship breakdown going on.
Are you not old enough to sort yourself out and let her sort herself out?I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Yep I am older enough and I am looking to rent privately, circumstances have changed they are both moving together to the coast and have put in forms for relocation.
Soon as they get the go ahead and if I haven't found anywhere for me and my daughter in time, I will be homeless0 -

" they are both moving together to the coast " ?
Sorry, I must have missed something.I am a LandLord,(under review) so there!:p0 -
I'm pretty sure 'the coast' is a very popular place to live so I doubt very much that they will be moving to another council house any time soon.
Therefore, you will have plenty of time to find your own place to live so I doubt you'll be homeless (drama queen!)0
