Hotwire and Priceline are good for getting cheap hotels. I know when I travelled around after camp we booked into a 4 star hotel in Chicago and I think it was under 100 dollars (£60 or so at the time), but it was lovely. They do go down in price a few months before. I'd say to book it yourself, only difference between you doing it and a travel agent is that you put the leg work in to save money whereas the travel agent does it and makes the savings:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one

Thanks again for all the replies. I know that I can't book anything this soon but I am just worrying that if we don't start saving soon then we might not be able to afford everything that we want to do... and we would love to have a honeymoon to remember.

Thanks again and any further information would be great.

On one of my last trips as we were sharing cost with the In-laws I put down all costs so we could divi up at the end:o
21 days of road trip came to £3K per couple and that was with many  MSE tips.
So, I'd say at a rough ball park figure aim for £5K savings and you should be fine :cool:0 -
* NYC... distrikt hotel at present but this might change. (we were going to do the plaza due to Home Alone but it doesn't have great reviews recently)
I think this is going to be your challenge, whilst early planning is always good the reality is that 3 years is a long time ahead to getting down to the detail of which hotels to stay in etc. Businesses are bought and sold, refurbed or not etc and so who is good and bad can change a fair amount in that time and the middle ground type places are probably most susceptible to this.0 -
As you are thinking about this in advance, then start thinking about looking at credit cards which give you airmiles (virgin or avios) - I treat my credit card like a debit card. Always pay it straight off and then its no different to paying in cash/debit card.
2 years is a good time to build up a decent level of miles to get your flights sorted or if you look at avios you can build up for a varierty of things. You can build up miles with tesco clubcard, topcashback and many other things.
I wish I had thought about it earlier (i started 6 months before my wedding) but I now have over 200k virgin airmiles which I am using to go to south africa next christmas.0 -
If you stay out near the airport you can get good prices for good hotels and its about 40 mins on the train in to Chicago centreWe had looked at Chicago as a fifth place but the hotel costs there were
