It's always a bonus to fly through them but I often wonder if it means the site will get hit by a shed load of automated entries thus lowering our chances anyway.

Quite possibly and with just one of the sites doing 20,000 plus entries for each individual competition per day it could make a big difference

If they just did them via the accounts we have created, limiting the number you can enter every so many minutes, it would save them (and us) so much grief. Like how MSE restrict the frequency of search. The captchas are clearly to slow you down. ie costs per hour of server use

Fantastic prizes, Bauer Media, but the captcha are clearly there to slow our entry rate down. Is that really is the best way to achieve it?

I would imagine it hammers Bauers servers as we have to see the pages repeatedly until it's correct. Oh maybe this is actually about the page hits for them afterall. Look 'viewfromtheshard' we had a bazillion hits to your page so that will be 75 squidillion please.

I can't imagine it's a cost effective exercise spent on errors otherwise. Just a thought lol.

I was wondering, would it be worth asking for a C2W sticky thread, so that when someone notices they're not using Captchas they can add it to the thread. Those who wanted could subscribe to the thread and get instant notification, to make the most of it.
