Hello there fellow MSE folks,
Can someone advise on what to check with my laptop, it has been working fine for about 8 months, now its running like an old XP machine thats full of updates.
Basically i was using it the other night surfing the net and all of a sudden it went slow, the steaming films started running slow, pages to ages to open, likewise functions and keyboard response are bad....its as if i am running 2 computers are in parallel.
It is a WIN 8.1, on an Atom processor, 2GB RAM and 32 bit system and working in Google Chrome.
I have run the AVG installed antivirus, also downloaded and checked with Dr.Web it also didn't find anything, also run malwarebytes, it also failed to bring anything conclusive. I have put Ad-Blocker on it now (as with my other computers) and it also doesn't seem to help
Has anyone got a starting point of what i can check next with this thing?

When was the last time it was rebooted? Win8 tends to go into standby than being rebooted. You may also want to use the system restore to revert it back to how it was before the issue,0

Try running CC Cleaner (link below), to remove unneeded files, and clean up the Registry.

well it does seem to have improved it by running the c.cleaner
thanks for that, much appreciated!0 -
Have you run both main cleaner and registry cleaner?
Also, you could turn off at startup, things you don't often use.
For instance, I don't run Garmin Express from startup, preferring to start it manually, when I actually need it.
Likewise, I seldom use the webcam, so I've turned that off.
Also turned off is Amazon Music Services.0 -
i made a discovery which i would be interested to hear if anyone else has had......basically the pages again slowed down and were painfully slow to open with pop-up windows asking if i wanted Google Chrome to kill the page. I did some research and read that this could be an issue with that browser.......so I put firefox on and the web-page speed is back up to normal0
