PCN in Scotland

Hi, I am hoping someone could help me.
I recieved a PCN from Britannia Parking this morning, for a charge of £85 (discounted to £50 if I pay within 14 days) for an offence of 'failing to make a valid payment'.
It is stated that the offence took place on 26/12/2014 between 16.00 and 20.00.
Advice that I have tried to read up on in other threads suggest that I should simply ignore this PCN as scots law rules. I am the registered keeper of the car.
Questions:
1) I am aware of who was driving (
), should I pay this?
2) If I ignore this letter (and file it somewhere safe) what is likely to happen to me? Can a debt collector legitimately follow up on this failure to pay?
3) Should I make an appeal as I was not the driver
and feel the charge is ridiculously over the top?
Ps. This is the first time I've ever received any form of parking charge. It is the first time I have parked in a car park where cameras have been in operation - instead of the usual barrier system. I can safely say I will never use this car park again and will always be well aware of these camera car parks in the future.

Please just search this forum for Scotland ... this is the 4th similar thread in less than a week.0

Thanks for the helpful reply Bod. I genuinely appreciate the time you took to read and respond to my questions.
Having already searched this forum earlier and finding entries which are not the same circumstances as my own, I decided to post a new thread.
I apologise for seemingly having wasted your time. Always nice to think that as a first time poster on the forum I am blamed (whilst genuinely looking for advice) for having a 'similar' post to another 3 users in "less than a week".0 -
Circumstances are irrelevant (unless you have a lease/hire car). The answer is the same in every case ... IGNORE!
ALL covered in the NEWBIES thread.
PS - what's the weather like in Kilmarnock?0 -
Bod. Again thanks for the reply. I will definitely follow your advice to ignore this PCN and any future ones (provided scots law doesn't change).
I found the newbies thread quite difficult to read specifically referring to Scotland. Could a new 'sticky' be made specifically for people who have recieved these PCN threats in Scotland. - simple stating your above answer (in all cases ignore! Except lease/hire cars). Perhaps this could alleviate the repetitive posts?
Eh it's been snowing since 3pm yesterday. Has been lying overnight and had another heavy snowfall this morning. Very light snow at the moment. Forecast is for sleet, although it'll take a good amount of rain to clear the 2-3inches of lying snow.
Thanks for the help once again Bod. (Now how do I close this thread?)0 -
(1) - No, do not admit who was driving and certainly do not pay
(2) - Absolutely nothing will happen, other than a series of junk mail dropping through the RK's letterbox. Current UKPC letter chain for N.Ireland is in post 7 the link below, Britannia in Scotland will have a similar letter chain

(3) - Absolutely not, do not have any contact with them whatsoever! Do you seriously think they care? Their only interest is in getting their hands on your money
Finally, Bod may be a little curt, but his advice is sound and you would be well advised to follow it.All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. Edmund Burke Irish orator, philosopher, & politician (1729 - 1797).0 -

I'm glad you used an r and not an n.

Which part of the sticky thread for NEWBIES specifically referring to Scotland did you find difficult to read. Not this bit surely?
If in Scotland/NI:
Apart from (of course!!) complaining to the landowner/retailer you should IGNORE your fake PCN unless you are not the registered keeper and that is a company (hire car or leased/company vehicle).*
Are you seriously asking the unpaid volunteers who have given up hundreds of hours of their own time to write the information in the NEWBIES thread to give up even more of their own time to write more information for the minority of people who receive PCNs in Scotland just so the minority of people in Scotland don't have to spend quite so much time reading as the rest of the people in the UK who receive PCNs?

Thanks for all the advice.
I would support this request as a (now better educated) Newbie
It would be helpful to confirm the position explicitly for variation in the following:
Location of car park (Scotland or E&W)
Location of keeper residence (Scotland or E&W)
- four scenarios are possible.
It is presumed that Location of registered office of Creditor is irrelevant?
Thanks0 -
Registered office of the PPC is irrelevant ... what matters are the location of the car park and the residency of the "victim".0
