Improve/obtain credit rating for foreign national

Hi there,
I am currently married to a Turkish national who won't become a permanent resident, and hence have a UK passport/be eligible to vote for another 4 years as he's on a Marriage visa. We want to buy a house within the next 2-3 years, but obviously he doesn't have a credit history, and can't vote, and I can't afford the type of Mortgage we want with me alone. We've already put a note on Experien regarding him not being on the voters register. He's been working since he's been in the UK (since Nov. 2013, and full-time with the NHS since last April). What's the best way to start getting credit for him?
